The Alabama Modeling & Simulation Council’s (AMSC) primary goal is to provide an environment in which all those who practice modeling and simulation (M&S) in Alabama can collaborate and cooperate for the collective good of the industry. AMSC is a not-for-profit organization, chartered in Alabama under IRS 501(c)(6). The general purpose of this council is to encourage the development, growth, and recognition of modeling and simulation activities within the State of Alabama. Our members represent the breadth of the modeling and simulation industry including aerospace, defense, medical, industrial, academia, and more.
Membership in the Alabama Modeling & Simulation Council is very affordable and is open to any (commercial, government, academic, or professional) organization or individual with a “stake” in modeling and simulation. For more information please email email@example.com.
The National Center for Simulation, operating out of Orlando, Florida and headed by Thomas Baptiste, is a non-profit national organization with government, academic and industry members operating as an open consortium.
The mission of NCS is to serve as the nation’s focal point and as a catalyst for the development, understanding, and advancement of simulation and related technologies; to improve defense readiness and facilitate space exploration; to support education and training initiatives; and to extend useful applications of simulation. NCS promotes coordination, collaboration and public awareness for its national and international member organizations.
Automation Alley, a Michigan based 501(c)6, is a supporter and leader in the organization of Modeling, Simulation and Visualization activities in Michigan. It is a technology business association and business accelerator dedicated to growing the economy of Southeast Michigan and enhancing the region’s reputation around the world.
Since its founding in 1999, Automation Alley’s membership has grown to include nearly 1,000 businesses and educational institutions with support from local and State governments. Automation Alley offers talent and business development programs and matchmaking services to tech-focused businesses of all sizes — from startups to large corporations — to help them grow and prosper.
Automation Alley also in collaboration with its members and support from the Michigan Economic Development Corp (MEDC) developed a Technology Center including an innovation lab focused on the promotion and training in PLM, MSV and digital manufacturing. It is located at Oakland University, Rochester Hills, MI.
The Center for Modeling and Simulation at the University of Texas at Dallas in Richardson, Texas focuses on research in the defense/law enforcement, medical and education sectors. The Center specializes in virtual reality, game-based simulation and virtual humans. Emergent systems, neuro-based designs, wearables and sensor-driven simulations are additional key areas.
All of the Center for Modeling and Simulation’s completed projects have won major national and international awards. These include Best Game, Government Category, in the Serious Games Showcase at the Interservice/Industry Training and Simulation Education Conference (I/ITSEC) and Best in Show, Academic Faculty or Staff Category, at the International Meeting for Simulation in Healthcare (IMSH) in both 2014 and 2015.
Upcoming research focuses on the lab’s game-based and story-telling platform featuring an adaptive content framework and automated assessment technology. The Center Director is Dr. Marjorie Zielke, professor of practice in the UT Dallas School of Art, Technology and Emerging Communications (ATEC).
The Virginia Modeling, Analysis, and Simulation Center (VMASC) at Old Dominion University (ODU) is a multi-disciplinary research center dedicated to solving real world problems through the application of modeling and simulation. VMASC was established in 1997 to support research and development of new and improved modeling and simulation techniques, theory, and processes to help grow this expanding field. Originally focused on military modeling and simulation VMASC has leveraged that experience into addressing complex problems in multiple domain areas such as homeland security, transportation, medical, education, business process engineering, population modeling, human behavior representation and many others.
VMASC has 11 PhD level M&S experts and a cadre of project scientist and engineering technical staff that provide on-site support and are experienced in a broad range of modeling and simulation domains. Our research capabilities and expertise include but are not limited to advanced analytics, computer programming, software development, detailed analysis, data mining, collection and analysis, model development, visualization, standards development, and verification and validation. The Center’s expertise lies in both pure and applied research, highlighted by a unique multidisciplinary M&S approach in an array of modeling and simulation focus areas.
