NDIA First Coast Chapter Rear Admiral “Amazing Grace” Hopper Defense Innovation Symposium
Senior Leaders from the Department of Defense and Defense Industry to Speak at the National Defense Industrial Association First Coast Chapter (NDIA FC) Inaugural Innovation Symposium in February 2019
Jacksonville, FL – Department of Defense and Defense sector senior leaders will gather on the First Coast to speak at and facilitate the National Defense Industrial Association First Coast Chapter (NDIA FC) “Amazing Grace Defense Innovation Symposium” named as such to honor Rear Admiral Grace Hopper and her numerous innovative contributions to the United States Navy. The NDIA FC has partnered with Women in Defense First Coast to support the symposium. This inaugural annual event will be held at the Lexington Hotel and Conference Center, Jacksonville, Florida, 26-27 February 2019. A large, diverse audience of 300-350 is expected with participation from industry, academia and the government workforce supporting innovation across services in Augmented and Virtual Reality (AR/VR) Simulation, Autonomous Vehicles, Contracting and Acquisition and Cyber Security. Attendance is free for active duty military, DoD Civilians and students.
This year’s theme is “Meet Us at the Intersection of Innovation & Entrepreneurship” and will focus on the latest technology and process innovations and best practices, challenges & opportunities, and enhancing government/industry partnerships. Warfighters, service acquisition, academia and industry professionals will provide valuable insight into subject capabilities while exploring innovation and future technologies.
This first of what will be a recurring symposium, will offer an outstanding opportunity to strengthen government/industry and User/Acquisition relationships, foster valuable exchanges of information between senior leaders, and provide insight to industry partners on needs of the services and opportunities. While Keynote speakers will deliver the latest out of Washington DC and allied partners, break-out sessions will focus on four domain areas on innovative integration of new technologies into:
- Augmented/Virtual Reality Simulation
- Autonomous Vehicle technology
- Acquisitions/Contracting including new emphasis on Other Transaction Authority (OTA) and
- Cyber Security as its importance continues to increase in operations and training.

There will be a Congressional Reception the evening before the symposium begins in the main lobby lounge at the Lexington Hotel and Conference Center with Congressman John Rutherford, co-chair of the Modeling and Simulation Caucus. Lunch will be served both days and another evening reception at the Lexington’s roof top bar is planned for the 26th. In addition, the downtown River Walk area of Jacksonville has a lot to offer including the Chart House Restaurant next to the hotel.
